Meeting with Councillor Williams at Uppermill Police Station.

Dear Residents.

This week, I had the pleasure of hosting a meeting at Uppermill Police Station with Councillor Ioan Williams, the elected ward councillor for Saddleworth North.

Councillor Williams contacted me as he was keen to gain a better understanding of the current issues affecting Saddleworth North, as well as the wider Saddleworth area. As both a local councillor and a lifelong resident who has grown up in the area, he was particularly interested in hearing about the concerns of local communities, current crime trends, and the challenges facing residents across Saddleworth.

It was extremely positive to meet someone who clearly has such a strong passion for the area and a genuine desire to help bring about improvements for our communities. During our discussion, Councillor Williams also took time to understand the challenges currently faced by the Neighbourhood Policing Team. He has expressed his commitment to supporting the team wherever possible, including assisting with efforts to secure much-needed equipment and suitable vehicles to help us continue delivering an effective service. This is an issue that has also previously been raised and supported by Councillor Sam Al-Hamdani.

I would like to place on record my thanks to Councillor Williams for taking the time to meet with me and for his willingness to support local policing. Strong relationships between the police, local authority, and community representatives are vital if we are to effectively tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, protect vulnerable people, and improve the quality of life for everyone living in Saddleworth and Lees.

I am confident that by continuing to strengthen these partnerships, we can further enhance our approach to neighbourhood policing, prevent and reduce crime, and bring offenders to justice for those crimes committed within our communities.
